You’ve made it this far and you think to yourself…by golly, I love her work!
Who is this strange, mysterious person, and what makes her tick?
Spoiler alert…I’m kinda nerdy.
I’m Jen Yuson. I live in Asheville, NC with my husband Shawn, our 9-year-old daughter, Stella, and our 23-year-old cat, Tee Wee.
I am a wedding and portrait photographer armed with a love of treasured moments and an obsession with light.
I travel and I hike. I love going to National Parks with my family! So far, we’ve been to Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree, Hawaii Volcano, Haleakala, Great Smoky Mountains, and the Everglades. I’ve also traveled to 32 of the 50 states, Iceland, Costa Rica, the Philippines, France, England, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
I play the piano, the pipe organ, Dungeons + Dragons and David Bowie. I also play with cats. I love cats!
I confess that on the 11th month of the year two thousand nineteen, I reluctantly joined Instagram. Gasp! But she’s a photographer! And she loves to travel! Double Gasp! (This is where I hang my head low and say, “I know. I know,” and slink away to my corner of shame).
A Brief History of a Wedding Photographer
1996: Jen, a bright-eyed high school freshman, takes her first Photography and Darkroom course at the Sawtooth Center in Winston-Salem, NC.
2000 – 2002: Studies Commercial Photography at RCC in Asheboro, NC.
2002 – 2008: Start spreading the news! Works in various photography jobs in
New York City before landing at a studio in SoHo that specializes in celebrity and high society weddings. With the studio, not only was she able to photograph in many of the beautiful venues in NYC but also traveled all over the country and world to photograph weddings. Furthest place traveled to photograph a wedding? Nice, France. Niiiiice. (I’m sorry…I couldn’t resist).
2008: Reconnects with an old friend named Shawn, who later becomes her second photographer and husband (d’awww), and moves to Greensboro to further explore that relationship.
2011 – Present day: Photographing beautiful mountain weddings in our new hometown becomes our new normal.
Oh, and something spectacular happened in 2014: Our daughter, Stella, was born!

Where and Whom Do We Photograph?
From lavish extravagant affairs at the Biltmore Estate to courthouse elopements where I sign as a witness, I love photographing love in all forms!
And, I firmly believe that LOVE is LOVE. All are welcome and safe with us.
In addition to weddings, I photograph engagement portraits, engagement proposals, bridal portraits, rehearsal dinners, Sunday morning brunches after the wedding, families including maternity portraits, newborns, senior school photography and birthdays.
